BELLEAIR, Fla., Nov. 5, 2021 – The Pelican Women’s Championship presented by Konica Minolta and Raymond James announced BayCare as the official health care system and founding partner of the championship, Tampa Bay’s signature LPGA Tour event taking place Nov. 8-14 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.

Also announced today, BayCare and the Pelican Women’s Championship have jointly launched its 2021 “Birdies for Babies” charitable program. To give back to the local community, the Pelican Women’s Championship has pledged to donate $50 for every birdie scored during all four rounds of next week’s championship to the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation and BayCare’s Morton Plant Hospital Women’s Services, located in the hospital’s Doyle Tower. The donations will help provide home monitoring blood pressure kits for new mothers and expecting mothers who are at highest risk of developing complications.

“We are proud to partner with the LPGA Tour and the Pelican Women’s Championship and are grateful for their support through the Birdies for Babies program,” said Lou Galdieri, President of Morton Plant Hospital and BayCare’s Market Leader for North Pinellas and West Pasco Counties. “This will enable us to provide home-monitoring blood pressure kits to help providers monitor patients who are at greatest risk of developing dangerous hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.”

As a founding partner of the Pelican Women’s Championship, BayCare is supporting the tournament’s volunteer program that recruits and deploys hundreds of individuals to assist in managing the event. The company also serves as a presenting sponsor of the Women’s Leadership Summit presented by Raymond James, taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 9 that will bring together a diverse panel to inspire women in the community featuring local civic and business leaders, as well as LPGA TOUR players and executives. BayCare also will brand and operate the on-site Spectator Care Center to assist in any first aid or medical needs of the fans in attendance throughout the week.

In 2020, the Pelican Women’s Championship donated $46,600 to support families in need as a part of the Birdies for Babies program. The 108 player-field carded 932 total birdies, led by third-place finisher Stephanie Meadow with 12 birdies. Sei Young Kim, winner of the 2020 Pelican Women’s Championship, carded 20 birdies.

The 2021 Pelican Women’s Championship made its debut in 2020 without spectators and will welcome fans to Pelican Golf Club for the first time, featuring a field of 108 players competing over 72 holes for a share of the $1.75 million purse.
